June Favourites

Monthly Favourties

This month I have found a few new products as well as old ones that I have been loving. These are a variety of skincare, hair care, nails and make up that I would love to share.

Charles Worthington salon at home colour enhancer colour shield spray

This product does exactly what it says. I spray it into my hair after i have washed it before blow drying, It makes my hair smooth shiny and keeps it in very good condition. It has even brightened my blonde hair and kept away any dull brassy tones. The product has added protection in it to save your hair from heat damage which is perfect as I use heat on my hair every day. I love the smell of the product. It is not a synthetic smell that does not linger in your hair, it leaves you feeling like you have just left the hair salon.

Garnier Hydra Express 24 Hour Hydrating Gel - Cream

I love this product!

It is the best moisturiser that I have ever used. It is a gel cream which at first i was skeptical about because I thought it would be sticky and make you clothes stick to me but it is the complete opposite.

The moisturiser is very hydrating on the skin and dries instantly. It is very cooling and cools the skin after being out in the sun and melts into the skin after a bath or shower. This specific product is for dry skin and within a couple of uses my skin felt soft and it had taken away all dry patches. There are other products in the range for normal and sensitive skin.

Rimmel Wonderfull mascara

My favourite thing about this product is the packaging. The metallic blue casing lets me find the product easily in my make up bag if I am in a rush. The mascara wand is plastic rather than a brush/spoolie and separates lashes well and gives them a good coat of mascara. The mascara itself has a shine to it when applying it to the lashes due to one of the main ingredients being argan oil which also keeps your lashes in good condition.
My favourite things about the product is that are that dries quickly, it is waterproof and does not flake off half way through the day.

Primark false nails

These false nails are part of the PS LOVE beauty range which is Primark's own beauty range. They are amazing and at only £1 per pack (including 24 nails of various sizes and a nail glue) they are a bargain. The nails come in a variety of designs and colours. The nails are extremely easy to apply and look very natural.

I have a full blog post on these coming soon.

Blogging

I started my blog at the end of May so June has been the first full month that I have been blogging and I am really loving it. I love sitting down with a notebook and writing a blog post about products that I have been loving and and would recommend to readers or days out/events I have been to. I have not experienced bloggers block yet as I have always had something to write about and have a lot of ideas for posts in the future.

Those are 5 things that i have been loving this month and will continue to use and love in coming months.

Urban Decay Makeover

                                                              Image

On the 18th of June I had an appointment for an Urban Decay makeover in Debenhams. I had never had a my make up done by a makeup artist before and I had never used Urban Decay products so I was very excited. I love trying new makeup products, usually on a day-to-day basis I use the same makeup products so having someone do my makeup and create a whole new makeup look on me was a real treat.

When I arrived at the Urban Decay counter I was a little early so I had time to look around. There were so many products that I loved and wanted to try them all. The products were all beautiful and looked so perfect and pristine in the most beautiful packaging. I had a look at all of the products and thought about the type of look that I would want the make up artist to create on me. After falling in love with the naked pallet I was ready to have my make up done.

My makeup was done my Urma who had done the models make up at Spa In The City. Urma asked me how I would like my make up to be done. I loved this as I was expecting her to create a look that she thought would suit me but I preferred that she asked me what I wanted. I asked for a natural look using the naked pallet as I had been dying to try it after hearing such good things about it and loving it when I looking it at the products before my appointment.

                                                             Image

The make up look created was golden shimmery eyes with flawless skin. The products used for this look were:

Face
- Primer potion
- Naked skin weightless ultra definition liquid foundation
- Naked skin weightless complete coverage concealer
- Naked skin ultra definition loose finishing powder
- Naked flushed blusher, highlighter and bronzer compact
- All nighter makeup setting spray

Eyes
- Naked palette: Virgin, Naked,Buck,Half Baked and Smog
- Eyeshadow primer potion
- Perversion mascara
- 24/7 velvet glide - on eye pencil in Lush

Lips
- Revolution high colour lip gloss in Kinky

The final look created was beautiful. There were 5 layers of make up on my face but it did not look or feel like it. I didn't feel like I was wearing makeup at all meaning that my skin could breathe.

Throughout the whole makeover the make up artist let me look at the product she had just applied and asked me if I liked it. If i didn't (which I always did) she  would change it for me. She was very knowledgeable about all of the products, what they were for, why to use them, why they were different to any other brands, what would suit your skin tone and type and was always there to give advice. She was brilliant.

I had my makeup done at 10 am and was going out for a meal at 6:30 pm and my makeup still looked flawless like it had just been done. I was so surprised at how much make up was coming off on my cotton pads at night when removing my make up at night.

The whole makeover experience was so much fun. The makeup look was really pretty and I feel like I would be able to recreate it at home. If you have a prom, birthday, wedding or any other celebration coming up then this would be the perfect way to get a flawless make-up look that would last the whole day. The makeover would be a perfect present to give someone.

I picked up so many tips and tricks that I will be able to use to make my make-up last longer and look a lot better.

Have you ever used Urban Decay makeup? If so what is your favourite product?

Dove Tan Moisturiser

This post is a little bit of skin care giving you a review of the Dove tan moisturiser and my fake tan application routine.

As summer is on its way and the sun is gradually coming out, i aswell as everyone else will be hoping that i can catch some of the sun and get a natural tan. However if like me you get bored of sitting in the sun, don't like the heat or don't tend to tan then this is the perfect product for you.

Dove tan moisturiser is the perfect combination of fake tan and moisturiser and gives you the perfect sunkissed look everyone longs for. The light moisturiser is easy to apply and can be worn after one coat or can be built up to give you a sunkissed holiday look. The product can be applied with a mitt or your hands with both application methods giving you an even coverage.

Pros of the product

  • The product comes in a light or a dark option suiting most skin tones giving you a natural looking tan compared to the orangey colour that some fake tans give.

  • The moisturiser has a nice sweet smell. It does not have a strong generic fake tan smell like biscuits or corn flakes which adds to the natural look of the product.

  • The tan does not completely wash off in the shower/bath. It comes of slightly as expected when washing however it does not fully come off meaning that you need to re-apply your tan moisturiser again. In my opinion it looks better after a shower as a small amount has been washed off leaving you with an even tan, washing off any streaks on your skin from the previous application.

  • The product dries instantly. You don't need to worry about drying time or feeling sticky. Once applying the product you can get dressed instantly and you don't have to worry about your clothes sticking to your skin and the product does not transfer onto your clothing meaning white clothes stay white!

  • The main use of the product is to tan your skin but as it is also a moisturiser it leaves your skin feeling fully moisturised and super soft. This means that you do not need to apply two products and wait for the moisturiser to dry before applying fake tan as the two products are built into one.

  • The Dove tan moisturiser has a very quick development time. The product only takes a couple of hours to develop. I usually apply it at night and leave it to develop whilst i sleep and apply another layer in the morning after a shower. However if you have a spontaneous night out and you are feeling a little pale you can apply it in the morning and afternoon and it will be fully developed for the evening giving you the same look as if you had built it up over a few days.

Cons of the products

I would not class these points as cons towards the products more just things to bear in mind when using the product

  • You cannot see where you have applies the product as it is not instant and goes on clear to your body. Therefore in the morning you may see that you have missed a few parts/patches and therefore you need to fill these in the next day.

  • The tan takes very well to your hands. You MUST remember to wash your hands instantly after using the product as if develops particularly dark on your hands and therefore people will know that you have applied fake tan and it is very hard to remove it from your hands. A tan mitt may be advisable to ensure that you do not get it on your hands.

  • Next post: A little bit of makeup.

Welcome to my blog!

This is my first ever blog post.

I was not sure what to write as my first blog post so I decided that I would write a basic introduction to my blog and let you know why I started my blog and what to expect from it.

Why did I start my blog?

I have always been interested in blogging and have read blogs for years and always wanted to have my own. There is something nice about sitting down and reading about a product or a day out that someone has enjoyed and wanted to share with their audience. I enjoy watching YouTube videos showing product reviews and makeup tutorials but sitting down reading a blog post is something I really enjoy to relax and unwind after a long day.

With a busy life and demanding commitments of work and university I have never had the time to sit down and create a blog but as it is now the summer holidays from university I have more time to devote to blogging and really put a lot time into starting and running my blog.

A main reason for starting my blog is to give me a hobby and allow me to talk about things that I love. I am excited to start writing and learning as a go along.

Why did I choose the name?

The choice of name was the hardest decision for me.  A lot of bloggers use their own name as the name of their blog but I decided that I wanted something a little bit different. I decided upon the name A Little Bit Of Fun because I consider my blog as a little bit of fun for me writing it and hopefully the reader to.

What sort of posts will my blog include?

The types of posts I plan on posting on my blog will be the types of posts that I like to read myself and things I have a keen interest in.

My blog posts will include:
  • A little bit of makeup
  • A little bit of skincare
  • A little bit of nails
  • A little bit of hair
  • A little bit of lifestyle

Hopefully there is something for everyone in my blog posts and you enjoy reading them.
I am really looking forward to start writing and get started with my blog and sharing my posts with you.
